Welcome to the Forum, swinggirl65000!

I believe this thread will help you retrieve your Mail:
Netscape 7.1 / Mozilla 1.x - Lost Mail

This fix will work on all Releases of Netscape 7. This is a bug in Netscape, and occurs more frequently if running Windows XP. The why is that the prefs.js file somehow becomes corrupt, perhaps other applications, AntiVirus programs, particularly PC-Cillin has been known to cause the loss of the prefs.js file.

The bottom line is to back up your Profiles folder frequently so that you always have a "good" copy of the prefs.js file available, as well as Bookmarks, Address Book, and Mail.

Let us know if you have further questions.

Hi Joe,

I have started a new thread for you, as the one you selected is 2 years old. The information has changed considerably since 2004.

The browser you're using is incredibly obsolete now, and the "lost profile" is one of its fallibilities. You should really think about upgrading to either Firefox 1.5.0.1, and Thunderbird, or to SeaMonkey 1.0. These applications have fixes for the numerous security vulnerabilities and bugs which are present in the Netscape 7 series.

A lost profile is due to your PC shutting down before Netscape has the opportunity to write to the prefs.js file, which it does on closing the browser. This could be due to Windows crashing, electrical failure, etc. It could also mean that your prefs.js file is corrupt for any number of reasons. As noted, backing up the Profiles folder is the best solution.

To answer your question: yes, there is usually a way to recover your original Profile. Take a look at this page and see if it helps: Lost Profile, Mail Settings.

If you need further help, let us know.
