You don't need to buy music to enter the competition, alternative entry form (no purchase necessary).

I think it would be nice to have a counter displayed on SillyDog701 Message Centre's front page.
There's a price for every 100,000 song download, and no purchase necessary by using this alternative entry form .
Don't steal music, and support SillyDog701 by buying songs through our webpage.

It's closer to 1 billion songs, and we've updated our counter.
The 1 billion countdown counter is now up to the second(*).
(*) with estimation based on two download counts 5 minutes apart, as Apple updates countdown data every 5 minutes.

We are all so excited about this billion songs download, it's not just the prize, but also the sign of people buying legal music.
Even if the song cost 99 cents, the download counts is still far greater than the certain free software.
less than 4.2 million to go. Good luck!

If anything, it's interesting to note that while it took nearly a year and a half to get a hundred million downloads, they were able to get ten times that within the next year and a half.
Of course, the numbers can be slightly misleading. When you buy music, you most likely buy the entire album, minus two or three tracks that you don't want. Given a twelve-track album, the reality of this is more like 1b/9 bulk purchases, or roughly 110 million albums.
Regardless of the numbers, though, the percentage of increase doesn't change.
Personally I'm still into physically buying CDs in the first place, with some free stuff thrown in that bands make available on their websites.
