Thanks to Pu7o for informing me this. Apple has released iTunes 6.0.4, it appears to be a small update from previous version.
iTunes 6.0.4 addresses stability and performance issues related to Front Row.

information about iTunes 6.0.4

iTunes 6.0.3 was released [sdt=10869]less than 2 weeks ago[/sdt].

System requirements
iTunes 6 requires Mac OS X version 10.2.8 or later for music and Mac OS X version 10.3.9 or later plus QuickTime 7.0.3 or later for purchased videos (Mac OS X version 10.4.2 or later is recommended). Support for mobile phones with iTunes requires Mac OS X version 10.3.6 or later.

AirPort Express with AirTunes requires an AirPort or AirPort Extreme card, Mac OS X version 10.3 or later, a compatible stereo system or powered speakers, and iTunes 4.6 or later. Playing your music with one or more AirPort Express base stations requires iTunes 6.0.2 or later plus AirPort Express Firmware 6.3 or later. Some ISPs may not be compatible with AirPort Express. For more information see http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/ .

Here's a question though. I'm using Quicktime 6.5.2 Pro. Don't need ITunes for Video right now. It was working fine under 6.0 & 6.0.1. However 6.0.2 gave me that Disk Utility issue. I haven't tried 6.0.3 or 6.0.4. Anyone know if these updates have fixed the Disk Utility conflict.

The Disk Utility problem can be fixed by removing the Intel part from the binary. This can be done typing the following at the terminal:
Code: Select all
ditto --arch ppc /Applications/iTunes.app /tmp/itunes &&
sudo rm -rf /Applications/iTunes.app &&
sudo mv /tmp/itunes /Applications/iTunes.app

It should ask you for your admininstrative password.

Please see this workaround for Disk Utility error.

Stripping certain portion of binary out from Apple released package is not encouraged for average home users, and is a behaviour of hackers. Mac OS X is not designed for UNIX geeks or hackers.

There's nothing wrong with shortening a binary with a tool that Apple themselves provide. Apple themselves do it to save space with iWork '06.

Apple is free to do whatever they what with their won products. Apple did not strip anything out, they selective provide the suitable binary to the end users.

Then tell me, why is it wrong to remove an un-needed and un-desired part of a binary with a tool that Apple themselves provide, if it does not hurt Apple in any way, and helps both save space and in certain cases like this one, avoid a bug?

I am pretty sure Apple do not encourage average end users to tweak applications (packages) Apple provided. Apple do not encourage average end users to run dangerous commands.

Certainly not for end users, but for people who know what they're doing, it's perfectly fine. I advised EddiePaxil to do it with full, easy-to-follow instructions, so that he does not need any UNIX experience to do it.

Perhaps you should've used
instead of
.

Still not the method Apple would recommend average end users.

Fixed, thank you.

It seems simpler than deleting .pkg files while moving iTunes around :roll:
