This is Secunia's SA19802 at
http://secunia.com/advisories/19802/

(marked as unpatched due to time zone difference)

and FrSIRT's ADV-2006/1614 at
http://www.frsirt.com/english/advisories/2006/1614

According to Secunia

Quote:
This can be exploited to corrupt the memory and cause a crash...

and severity level is Not Critical (1/5).

According to FrSIRT company this vulnerability

Quote:
...could be exploited by remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands.

while they list it as Critical Risk (4/4).

This is really odd.

I used the incremental update, and, all extentions indicated that they were compatible. However Roboform needed an uninstall/reinstall from v.6.6.8 to 6.6.9.
Also, continuing the past tradition this update from the incremental indicates that it is v.1.5.0.3, while an installation from the complete setup file had gone from 1.5.0.1 to 1.5 (1.5.0.2) in the Add/Remove.

Is it unusual for a security issue to be identified in Firefox, but the same is not identified in SeaMonkey?

Firefox is based on 1.8.0.3 while the latest SeaMonkey (1.0.1) is based on 1.8.0.2.

Secunia has elevated the severity of its advisory from Not Critical to Highly Critical on 3rd May.
In fact, this is from level 1/5 to level 4/5.
However, their original Not Critical rating was not realistic.

I have been wondering for a while.

26 May, 2006 8:24 pm Mozilla and Javascript problem [sdp=73756]

I downloaded the newest version of Mozilla but am repeatedly being warned that I've disabled Javascript. I certainly didn't shut anything off but when I check the Javascript option in the browser, I'm seeing tons of error messages. How can I fix this? I don't know where to go to figure out the problem. Thanks.

In the address bar, type in about:config, and press Enter. In the bar next to "Filter", type in javascript.enabled, and press Enter again. If the value for javascript.enabled in the list is set to false, double-click to change it to True. Restart Firefox, and see if this solved your problem.

26 May, 2006 8:44 pm Still Javascript problems [sdp=73759]

Hi, no, I followed your directions but the filter said "true" but I"mstill not able to get it to work right. Also, at the bottom of some pages, I'm getting "Scripts currently forbidden" followed by a series of things. For example, on this page, i'm getting:
scripts currently forbidden [<script>:5] [+F+P:0]

sometimes I'm getting different numbers--8 or 9, for example.
thanks for anything you can tell me.
