I'm implementing a site with a 3-column layout for a client. I'm using Matthew Levine's Holy Grail approach as it seems to be one of the cleanest with good cross-browser support. However, if you visit that example with Netscape 7.2, you'll notice a problem: the footer sits at the bottom of the main content area, behind the two side panels. It appears the clear: both style applied to the footer is being ignored.

I assume this is a problem with the specific Gecko build used with 7.2, as the example page is fine in 8.1 or the latest Firefox. Has anyone experienced this problem and found a solution/workaround for it? Alternatively, does anyone know of a good place to get help for 7.2-specific css problems? I've found plenty of good resources for IE/Firefox/Safari/Opera but really struggling to find anywhere that 7.2 is discussed in depth, and it's one of the browsers I'm required to support.

What about Mozilla, uppon which NS7.2 is built, or Seamonkey which is closely related to both.

I've had a look through the bug lists for Mozilla but can't see anything that relates to this problem. Even if I could, it probably doesn't help much to know there's a bug seeing as it's not going to get fixed for 7.2. I think what I really need is someone who knows the engine well enough that they can identify the problem from the example provided and either a) confirm it's unsolvable or b) suggest a workaround.
