Apple has updated their line of iPod MP3 players.

The video iPod now comes in 30GB and 80GB flavors. The 80GB model is enough to hold, on average, 20,000 songs, 25,000 photos, or 100 hours of video. Gapless (continuous) playback has also been implemented from iTunes 7. The screen is now 60% brighter, and battery life has also increased: the iPod is rated at 20 hours in music mode, and 6.5 hours in video mode. Not bad at all for a hard-drive based device with all the moving parts and brighter screen.

The iPod nano now comes in silver, green, pink, blue, and black. The screen is now 40% brighter. Available in 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB models, the nano can hold up to an average of 2,000 songs, and has a whopping rated battery life of 24 hours. A perfect reason to stay awake a full day. Laughing

Perhaps the best part: the redesigned iPod shuffle.

Let's get some scale to that, shall we?

The Shuffle has been redesigned to a clip-on model. At 1GB, it's rated at 240 songs, with a rated battery life of 12 hours. The dimensions of the new Shuffle are 1.62 x 1.07 x 0.41 inches, including the clip. That's one small MP3 player, or for that matter, electronic device.

And let me guess: there's still no LCD screen on the Shuffle, right? Rolling Eyes

Apparently not. I doubt there's room for a screen on something that small anyway; if they put one on anyway, you probably wouldn't be able to read it.

Take a closer look at iPod pricing.

iPod shuffle will be only one model, 1GB US$79
(41.2 x 27.3 x 10.5 mm; 15 g)

iPod nano have 3 models, 2GB for US$149 (silver only), 4GB for US$199 (choice of silver, green, blue and pink), 8GB for US$249 (black only).
(90 x 40 x 6.5 mm; 40 g)

iPod nano have 2 models, 30GB for US$249, 80GB for US$349. Both models available in black and white.
(30GB model: 103.5 x 61.8 x 11 mm; 136 g)
(80GB model: 103.5 x 61.8 x 14 mm; 157 g)

That's right, the 8GB iPod nano (black colour) costs the same as 30GB iPod.
