I had an occasion a few days ago to do a 'clean install' of WinXP. When I got around to installing my Thunderbird software, (the Briitsh version), the 'myspell' folder only contained the American dictionary requiring me to go and find the British dictionary and installing manualy. THIS IS SOMETHING NEW!
Having aquired the recent 1.5.0.7 (British) update, I again installed Thunderbird after removing the 1.5.0.5 version only to find that only the en-US dictionary has been installed, good job I saved the original 'Mysell' folder huh?
So what is happening - any ideas?

George

George,
I don't know, but I am guessing that you get what is default. Initially, like right now even the release notes are not available, so I would not expect that option would be available, either. Good for you that you saved your file. My guess is that in a few days options would be available. However, I don't know why they would call it a British update, under the circumstance.

Fulvio....thanks for the responce, however you have missed the point. The default download of software is with the British dictionary, (at least from the UK) so that upon installation, one gets the choice of American or British dictionaries. During the installation routine it can be observed that the British dictionary is being installed but does not appear in the 'myspell' folder after the installation routine is completed! I have never seen this happen before, in all other instances of installation I have had the correct dictionary available. I wouldn't be so bad if you yanks used proper English ! Very Happy As it is, we Brits have to have a separate dictionary so that we can make ourselves understood -- G Cool

It is very clear now, while it was not before. I could give an excuse that I was born in Italy, learned British English in school, in Europe, by an Aussie, and, then came to the USA, living near Canada, and got completely messed up. It is a miracle that i can speak, read, and write, at all! But your original description was not as clear to this mixed up fellow, as the present one.
I must say that, until proven otherwise, someone make a mistake, and it is not yours.
May be some of the other fellows across the ocean may confirm this problem.
