Yes, it's possible to write Mac applications with Visual Basic, Visual C#, Visual C++ or Visual J# Express.

Since .NET Framework uses Common Language Infrastructure (CLI) Virtual Machine, all we need to do is to install equivalent of .NET Framework for OS X, and all applications written for .NET Framework should work on OS X.

In Creating Mac OS X applications with MS Visual Studio Express, we will tell you how easy it is. Just need to download a few tools and they are all free. (Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Express is free as well.)

I do not recommend using Visual Basic, Visual C#, Visual C++ or Visual J# Express to create applications for Mac, but to demonstrate it's doable. Apple's Xcode is still the preferred software.

For more detail, please read Creating Mac OS X applications with MS Visual Studio Express.

Interesting concept. wx.NET might be a better option in the cross-platform sense, though if you're going to do that you can say goodbye to VS2005's lazy drag-and-drop form creator, and will have to spawn all of your controls by hand.

Mono does have some System.Windows.Forms compatibility (which is what VS2005 will build by default), though it isn't complete.

Hello!

I just build an Application on the base of your tutorial, but it only worked on an old PPC mac and not on an new Intel MacBook.

I got a message that sounds wx-c.dll not found.

Do you have an Idea what I might have done wrong?
