Photoshop CS3 Beta available for download! (from 15th Dec)
Adobe announced on Thursday that it is launching a public beta test phase for Photoshop CS3. The final version is slated to ship in spring 2007. The beta version of Adobe Photoshop CS3 will be available from tomorrow (15th December).
It's an Universal Application
The public beta is a Universal Binary application, allowing it to run natively on PowerPC and Intel-based Macs - something Mac users have been begging for ever since Apple introduced its Intel-based systems.
Photoshop CS3 beta also includes a pre-release version of a major upgrade to Adobe Bridge, as well as a preview release of the all-new Adobe Device Central. Photoshop customers can use Adobe Device Central to design, preview, and test compelling mobile content, created specifically for smaller screens. This new tool, integrated in the Photoshop CS3 beta, simplifies and accelerates the creation of mobile content through a preview environment and built-in device profiles.
The Beta version of Photoshop CS3 can be downloaded from Adobe Labs from early hours of 15th December (US Pacific Standard Time).

It's now available! You can get it here . If you don't have a Photoshop CS3 Beta key, then you will only be allowed to use the software for two days. To get a Photoshop CS3 Beta serial, you need to input your legitimate Photoshop CS2 key here .

Is this public beta for Mac users only?

In that case, it should be in the General Computing and Tech section . . .

Photoshop CS3 Beta has released few days ago, and Photoshop's most important platform - Mac - now has some benchmarks.
BareFeats has published benchmarks of Photoshop CS2 vs CS3 Beta on high-end Macs (Mac Pro 3GHz vs Power Mac G5 Quad-Core 2.5GHz)
Both Mac Pro and Power Mac G5 Quad are of "quad"-core, Mac Pro features Intel Xeon processors, and Power Mac G5 features PowerPC processors. Both machines have 8GB of RAM.
A quick conclusion from BareFeats' data, CS3 Beta is faster than CS2 on Intel-based Mac, but no much speed improvement on PowerPC-based Mac (in fact, a little bit slower).
