Is it my imagination, or is this software borked?

I have a 6 Mb connection. Opera 9.10 loads in pages at DIALUP speeds! It can't even crack 10 Kbps when pages load in.

Not to mention, when I click something, it sits there for 3 seconds before the action resulting from the click, starts.

This is slower on my K6-2 box (500 MHz) in Windows, than SeaMonkey is on my Pentium 1 (166 MHz) in Linux.

EDIT: If I disable the antivirus software (CA), Opera flies. If I turn it back on, it back to its slow speeds. Thoughts, suggestions?

Have you checked to make sure you're running the very latest version of your AV program? I'd check the Opera forums too, to see if there is any other reports of conflicts with your AV software.

I have started a thread at Opera's forums and am running the latest AV software.

Unfortunately, the long-term footer printing issue with the Linux release is still present. Now tried with two different distros (SuSE and now Mandriva) and with two different printer brands, Epson and HP, same thing. So...it's not a Linux or printer issue.

I've decided not to bother with anything Opera anymore.

There have been too many issues with their software that it is not worth changing this or that on my system, just to try get ONE application working properly.

FWIW, not too long ago, I also downloaded Opera Mini to my T-Mobile phone, and THAT didn't even work...

I'm not sure I would go so far as to say I wouldn't bother with Opera anymore, but I have to admit that I rarely use it for these very same reasons... particularly when FF and SeaMonkey work so well.

In the case of the Linux releases not printing footers correctly (or at all), why should something like that linger on for THREE YEARS? That makes absolutely no sense. It's happened with two different brands of printers as well as two different Linux distributions. That is definitely an Opera problem, not a Linux or printer issue.

Printer margins can also be changed in Opera as well as in KDE's KPrinter settings in Linux, however when both of these were set to a bottom margin of pretty much near zero and Opera still would not print the footers afterwards, then there is definitelly something wrong.

It was reported as a bug long ago, they have obviously chosen not to do anything about it, so, fine.

SeaMonkey works great, even on my slow Pentium 1 system running Linux, I'm sticking with it.
