Hello AfroDan,
Tidus has covered this in a separate topic here, i think it's been solved. Have a look there, Tidus can't get to you right now, he's drunk, and swearing at his laptop, he's tryin to get on Messenger. heehee!
He'll help you when he's sober, i'm pretty sure of that!

Sorry, AfroDan, i didn't realise Trinity was your mum. I was referring to the thread where Tidus was assisting her, and it still seems to be ongoing. looking through it, it looks as though your mum hasn't told Tidus that the sound works on the CD player. Therefore, it must be a driver issue.
I'll get Tiddles on to it A.S.A.P, i'm his boss, LoL Gotta start cracking the whip!
I'm a cruel girl, aren't i?

Well, this may help tidus but i thought i should post it up anyway. This is the specifications fo the sound driver already installed:
VIA AC'97 Audio Controller (WDM)
Driver Provider: Microsoft
Driver Date: 1/7/2001
Driver Version: 5.1.2535.0
Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows XP Publisher
If you need any more information tidus just ask lol

Hello AfroDan,
I'm all refreshed (and sober!), after the festive season! From what you've told Riksy (she's logged in right now, i can feel her (ooh-err!), and she's my boss, so i've got to be a good boy, it seems it isn't a hardware fault.
Grab your driver pack from our downloads area, uninstall your sound driver via Device Manager, and install the driver from the KJC drivers. I've used these numerous times, so i can guarantee the drivers are not the problem if it happens again. If the sound board was dodgy, CD's wouldn't produce sound when the lappie is turned off.
Thanks for taking over on SillyDog for me Rikku when i was drunk, you're a good boss
Dan, your mum didn't get back to my last post, so if this doesn't work, i'll rack my brains (what i have left!)

Yeah, Windows is a bastard for doing that Dan!
Just click the Driver tab in the souncard properties, and click Update, and manually point it to where the driver is.
I would do this post in more detail, only i'm currently at work, wrestling with our Dell PowerEdge rack server, it doesn't want to go back in its rack where it lives! And these things are 1 and a half metres long!
If ya have trouble, i'll help ya when i get home, with my feet up, when the missus is watchin TV.

I hate Windows with its generic drivers, it always puts the wrong ones on sometimes.
I've had a long day, didn't finish till 8pm, me & Rikku set the workshop on fire, LoL! It was caused by a faulty DELL (GRRRRR!!) Power supply, that we tried repairing, it was shorting out, and we didn't want the customer to have to go back to Dell for a new PSU, the PSU's are nonstandard!
A capacitor shorted out, exploded, and set fire to the PSU, and the wiring inside caught fire!
We've just wrecked a brand new Dell XPS system, £2,000 worth! I'll help you more tomorrow, right now, me and the missus are relaxing, then off to bed. Our Dell server is OK though, it went back into its home eventually. Our server is £6,000 worth!
Night all!
