Hi,

I have just aquired a Tiny A360+ notebook running XP 256mb ram and celeron processor. When I try and play a movie from my dvd drive the picture is a bit jerky as is the sound. Is there anything I can do to improve this. I have all the normal xp audio and Video drivers installed. Thanks for any help.

Dave.

Hi Dave,

Tidus is our Tiny expert here, but i just thought i'd share my knowledge of what he's taught me. Your machine seems powerful enough, you have enough RAM, but what is your CPU speed? Also, as a note, the Celeron is a budget processor, and isn't as powerful in respects to multimedia, the Pentium 3 has all the multimedia extensions such as SSE2 etc, but you should still be able to play DVD's fine. Try defragmenting your hard drive, and running CHKDSK on it. Go to My Computer, right click your hard drive, and click Properties. Then see the Disk Cleanup button? Run this on it, then go back to this property window, and click the Tools tab. Run all those tools on it, except the Backup one, and in Disk Checker, check the "Automatically fix file system errors" box, and the "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" box.

You'll need to restart your machine, as Windows needs full access to the disk. It will then scan your drive for errors, and fix them. I recommend you do the checkdisk first, then Defragment last. And make sure you have 15% free space or more for it to run efficiently, otherwise you'll need to keep doing it.

Good Luck sir ^____^
