Tech Republic has a page - 10 things you should know before you buy an 802.11n wireless device.

If you are thinking about buying an 802.11n wireless device, you might want to take a look.

The biggest concern now is... the 802.11n standard is not yet fully ratified. And pre-802.11n or draft-802.11n may not guarantee N compatibility.

Please noted that the aforementioned article was written before with the release of new AirPort Extreme Base Station (which is based on 802.11n Draft.) With Apple's AirPort Extreme Base Station, you don't need to worry about compatibility, you can be guaranteed that it will be as easy to use as all products should've been.

If it's based on the .11n draft, then you're still subject to the standard changing before its ratification. Just the fact that it's an Apple product doesn't guarantee that you'll be able to use true 802.11n hardware with a draft 802.11n access point.
