News from Australian IT , there are more than a fifth of Australians now use Mozilla Firefox based on Nielsen Net Ratings. Apple's Safari has 5 percent share, Netscape still has 4 percent.
| Quote: | In a report detailing Australian internet use in 2006, Nielsen reported that Microsoft's Internet Explorer was still dominant in the market, with 81 per cent. Firefox accounted for 22 per cent of the market, while Apple's Safari, which shares some open source code with Firefox, was the third most popular at 5 per cent. |
It appears that the report does not exclusive to those who a certain browser exclusive. Nielsen also found that 18 percent of Australians used more than one browser, and the reasons? Site compatibility cited as the most common reason, followed by features and security.
