Does DRM-free and high quality song worth $1.29?

Currently, the price for a song is $0.99 with reasonable Flayplay protection at 128 kbps from iTunes Store. From May, iTunes Store will offer songs without DRM protection as well as twice the bitrate (256 kbps) legally for 30 cents more.

Say you are willing to spend $0.99 for a song (DRM, 128 kbps). Would you pay extra 30 cents for a song that is DRM free and twice the bitrate?

Absolutely. DRM free and twice the bitrate for just 30 cents extra is well worth it for me. I hope more record labels agree to this. Smile

Definitely. The no-DRM thing means that I can purchase my songs using iTunes and play them in something else. You don't get that sort of portability anywhere else.

Twice the audio quality is a great added bonus too, though I'd say the de-DRMed content justifies the extra $.30. That's not to say that I can't tell a difference between 128Kbps and 256Kbps, but which would you rather?

Yes. I'll be the first to say I'm no fan of DRM whether it is Apple's, or Microsoft's, or anyone else's. I want the freedom to buy the music and then play it anywhere I want to. I'd pay the extra 30 cents for no DRM and no bitrate increase. The extra bitrate increase is just an added gimmic, IMO.
