Microsoft Corp. has unveiled three new models of its Zune players featuring touch-sensitive navigation buttons.
Similar to iPod touch and iPhone, new Zunes feature Wi-Fi connectivity, but only for sharing songs and well as syncing to PCs.
A surprise move for many observers, the new Zunes support H.264 and MPEG-4 video natively. Apple was the first major industry highlights the power of H.264 , Apple also provides H.264 decoding and encoding to consumers with QuickTime Player 7.
The three Zunes are:
4GB model at US$149, 8GB model at US$199; and the high-end 80GB hard-drive based model at US$249.
In comparison: Apple's iPod nano (4GB) is priced at US$149, iPod nano (8GB) is US$199; 80GB iPod classic (80GB) is priced at US$249.
The new Zunes are planed to be out by mid-November.
