According to this Secunia advisory entitled
Netscape Multiple Vulnerabilities

this update fixes eight security vulnerabilities.

The advisory points to Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.8 warning published last week.

Interesting, it's possible that there was no security fixes in 9.0 at all.

The Release Notes document is pointing to recent Firefox fixes as well:

I have been using NS9 for about 4 months. I don't like it much but ny NS7.2 browser developed a bug so I had to do something. About a week ago Netscape downloaded an update to NS 9 which I guess is the 9.0.0.1 version you are talking about. Ever since this update was added I have about a one inch grey band on the botton of my browser screen with the words: <memuitem id= "menu_HelpPopups_reportertoolmenu. I cannot get rid of this annoyance and an email I sent to Netscape has (surprise) not been answered. Does anyone have an idea about what I can do to get rid or this band, words, etc.? Would it help it I reloaded NS9 or 9.0.0.1 ? Would that mess up my bookmarks etc.? In the meantime I have been using internet explorer which works better than either NS7 or NS9.
