Have you tried it? In my experience, most of the 3.0 were stealing default.

Just to make sure that everybody read this from the Mozilla Developer Center:

In my experience, it is a mandatory message for all new, non-final builds.
I worked 3.0ax, and, it behaved up until 3.0a8 (although its download progress was messed up). I tried 3.0a9 and then b1pre, and caused havoc. They insisted in making it default.
I will try b1, and see if has done away with the propensity of making itself default.

I have installed (custom install to select a different folder) 3.0b1. I used the same profile, previously, used by 3.0a8. The first time around, the default was stolen, but not thereafter.
3.0x requires secure installations of the add-ons, but I can make all but one work.
I had to go into 3.0b1 to complete post. 2.0.0.9 would not accept anything else. Never seen anything like that.
Roboform add-on is the one which does not work, nor it can be uninstalled (grayed out).
The iSafari theme was not compatible, and I removed it.
Take a look at this review

I could possibly be curious enough to go for the beta, but it has gotten a lot of bad press, as being loaded with un-attended vulnerabities.

I think that you are akeing if there will be a TB3. I know that they were working on it. But, Mozilla is no longer, officially, working on TB. Some individuals come out with nightlies , but they have made no progress. I would not count on a TB3.0.
I try anything, but I will reject any program which messes me up. TB3.0 was one of those, which like FF3.0 earlier builds stole default. That's why I was asking if FF3.0b1 had the same propensity. I will test any program, but one which steals default (i.e. does not ask me) is not to be trusted.
One more comment, with a link mozillazine. A lot of people seem to have memory hog problems. I find that it is less of a memory hog than 2.x. But, I have unchecked most of the problem boxes. I am, actually, using about 5 CPU, and 52MB, with five tabs. I have half as many add-ons as Firefox2.0.0.9.
There is no doubt that 3.0 is more agile.

I have yet to fully mess around with b1, but so far it seems to be working fine for me.

b2 is suppose to come out this week. However, the only major problem I had was with Yahoo Mail Beta. 3.0b1 is not accepted by Yahoo, giving some ridiculous error messages. I think that Yahoo is striking again.
