Just a quick comparison between previous models and current models:
- Previous MacBook Pro vs current MacBook Pro
- Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz - 2.6GHz (65nm Merom)
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz - 2.6GHz (45nm Penryn)
- NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT (128MB - 256MB)
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT (256MB - 512MB)
- 120 - 250GB 2.5" 5400RPM SATA or 200GB 7200RPM SATA
200 - 250GB 2.5" 5400RPM SATA or 200GB 7200RPM SATA
- same US$1999 for base models (but cheaper in most international countries due to weakening of US currency)

I got my new MacBook Pro yesterday. The 15-inch 2.5GHz version.
My Grumpy is very happy with it.

PC Magazine has giving Editors' Choice award to current Apple MacBook Pro 15-inch.
quoting from The Mac Observer ,
| The Mac Observer wrote: | The 15-inch, 2.6 GHz Penryn-based MacBook Pro has fabulous design elements, is faster and lighter than competitors and has a 15 percent better battery life than its Merom-based predecessor.
(...)
The 1,440 x 900 screen is still the only 15-inch screen on the market to use LED backlighting. In addition, the LEDs "have power-saving characteristics, supposedly longer life spans, and a color gamut wider than that of their CCFL counterparts." |
That is, a PC Magazine giving awards to a Mac.
Congratulations Apple!

I think I will get one too.
Is that all that I would need in a Macbook?
You know pretty well what I do.....not too much.....
Stationery and play around in PSP X.
Can you use PSP X or X1 in a Macbook?

As Mandrake said, you can save money by getting a MacBook (13-inch) instead, if you don't mind the smaller screen.
Otherwise, if you don't need portability, you can get an iMac (20-inch or 24-inch) for less (and more powerful).
Although not 100% perfect, Mac OS X has great built-in settings designed for visual impaired people.
