Apple today released Safari 3.1.1 for Windows and Mac OS X, an update to Safari 3.1 released a month ago. Safari 3.1.1 includes improvements to stability, compatibility and security.

In Safari 3.1.1, two of the four security fixes are for the Windows XP and Vista platforms. The other two related to Webkit apply to both Windows and Mac OS X.

Safari 3.1.1 is available from Apple Safari web page or Apple Software Update, and is available for both Mac OS X and Windows.

I, just, installed the new Safari.
My comments? A while back our dear friend Antony hit the fan, when he found out that Firefox self-updated. Now, what is Safari doing. There is check mark at the very beginning of the installation which says:
Quote:
Automatically update Safari and other Apple software".
Is that any better than having the same type of setting in a far removed place? Not really, I , like others, I am sure, missed the point. Nobody reads the "instructions"!
When, I tried to abort the installation, I was ignored first, finally after two tries, the installation was cancelled.
Then, I started all over, unchecking the box. And, after ten minutes the installation was completed.
The program is great, as usual.

After my several repeated failures to install XP-SP3, it took me three tries to open Safari3.1.1.
