Apple today released the fifth update to Mac OS X Leopard, making the version to 10.5.5. This update is recommended for all users running Mac OS X Leopard, it includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability, compatibility and security to user's Macs.

Mac OS X 10.5.5 Update includes fixes and improvements for both PowerPC and Intel-based Mac on following issues: recent Apple security updates (it includes Security Update 2008-006), improves Spotlight indexing performance, iimproves iPhone sync reliability with iCal and Address Book, fixes Kerberos authentication issues for Mac OS X 10.5 clients that connect to certain Samba servers. Address Book, Disk Utility and Directory Utility, iCal, Mail, MobileMe, and Time Machine have all be improved on various issues. Updating from Software Update may be less in file size. In Antony's case, updating from Software Update is only 136MB in size on his iMac.

Apple also releases Security Update 2008-006 for Mac OS X Tiger (v.10.4.11) today. Security Update 2008-006 for Mac OS X Leopard is included in the Mac OS X 10.5.5 update.

Apple released Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard on 26 October 2007, the first update was released in mid November 2007, the second update was released in mid February 2008, followed by Mac OS X 10.5.3 in late May, and Mac OS X 10.5.4 in late June. Leopard is packed with over 300 new features, installs easily, and works with the software and accessories users already have.
