12 Apr, 2009 11:17 am Problems installing ATi drivers on Windows 7 |

|
My Windows 7 have automatically installed WDDM 1.1 driver for my Sapphire HD4850 1 Gb.
The problem is that those drivers don't support OpenGL -> I can't play CounterStrike.
I'm using build 7077, and in build 7068 I was able to install the Catalyst 9.3, I'm unable to install it now, same errors with Catalyst 9.4.
When I was on 7057 build, I had no ATi drivers yet, and I upgraded normally on build 7068. Then I got the ATi Catalyst 9.3, and when I wanted to upgrade my Windows, it said that it recommends me to remove ATi Catalyst drivers, or system might be unstable. So I have removed it, upgraded to 7077, now I can't get them to work.
I have tried upgrading Windows driver over Device Manager, but when I locate the driver, I get the message that the newer driver is installed:

If I run Catalyst 9.4, it installs normally, doesn't show any errors, but on reboot, I get this error:

I'm begging you to help me

Thanks
You should definitely install Windows 7 (I hated Vista, loved XP because of speed), and Windows 7 has Vista's graphics & funcionality with the speed of Windows XP. It's demands aren't that high, but I don't know which graphic card do you have, so..
Anyway, I have managed to fix my problem. I have went to Device manager -> Update driver -> "I have a disk" -> Located my .inf file, and voila.
But I have previously tried that, and when I have selected the same .inf file, no graphic card was listed, so I was unable to continue with update..
I know I have disabled the driver that Windows 7 has automatically installed, but I'm far from being sure that this thing solved my problem.
Anyway, thanks for the help, sorry for english and take care
