09 Jun, 2009 7:09 pm Compatible Anti-spyware recommendations? |

Currently we have McAfee Internet Security (until June 2010 and yes... we're happy with it) for our anti-virus and firewall (and some anti-spyware as well as anti-spam). We had been using Webroot's Spysweeper but our subscription is about to expire and I don't really want to pay $30 to renew it. Recommendations for a compatible (with McAfee) anti-spyware that is preferably free. Thanks.

Windows defender works quite well when paired with the windows malicious software removal tool.

The latest antispyware that I've heard recommended (by Windows Secrets and MaximumPC) is SUPERAntiSpyware , but I have not yet tried it. I still use Spybot - Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware 2008, both of which you already know about.
I know nothing about compatibility with McAfee products. [I could get McAfee AV from my employer for free, but I prefer to pay for a poison of my own choice.]

Thanks, Everyone.
I downloaded both Superantispyware and Malwarebytes Antimalware (both free) but have yet to install them. Neither has real time protection so they should not conflict with McAfee.

Thanks, Dude, but I've had too many issues with Spybot in the past. Years ago, after it first came out, I used it along with Ad-aware. But both are a little long in the tooth now and just don't seem to do the job they once did... at least for me.
