I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good portable hard drives. I'm looking for something that I can put all my pictures and music on, that way I can use them both on my laptop and my desktop. I also want something that is going to be easy to take with me when I go on a trip or something.
Any recommendations?

Get a 2.5-inch portable HDD, preferably USB powered, so you can save carrying one extra powercord and an AC adaptor.
And I recommend LaCie Rugged Hard Disk for extra strength against physical shock an damaging.
(my blog entry for more detail.)

Similar question , different reason, from a year ago.
Check the variety at http://www.westerndigital.com/en/ . Both hard-drive and solid state storage are available. I have no judgment on the advisability of the solid state.
There is excellent educational/technical material on the site - see under the Support heading.
Other manufacturers (paragraph 7) also have web sites.

I have used a Western Digital Passport 320 gig drive. I have use it at work, at home, on an airplane, in a hotel, whatever, wherever, no problemo.
You can now get a 500 gig unit for around US$100.00
