08 Oct, 2009 8:05 am End of Year 2009 online chat [sdp=98137]

Firstly, I'd like to thank Mandrake for organising this online chat.

We haven't had online chat for quite a while, I guess we all been busy. This year, November is the new End of the Year (for online chat).

The first one is on 15:01 (GMT 0) Sat 7th Nov 2009 and the second one is on 0:01 (GMT 0) Sun 8th Nov 2009.

The first chat 15:01 (GMT 0) Sat 7th November 2008 will be translated to (assuming my conversion is correct):
2:01AM 8th Nov Sydney (AEDST) daylight saving
11:01PM 7th Nov Perth (AWST) NOT daylight saving
3:01PM 7th Nov London
10:01AM 7th Nov EST
7:01AM 7th Nov PST

The second chat 0:01 (GMT 0) Sun 8th November 2008 will be translated to (assuming my conversion is correct):
11:01AM 8th Nov Sydney daylight saving
8:01AM 8th Nov Perth (AWST)
0:01AM (midnight) 8th Nov GMT 0 London
7:01PM 7th Nov EST
4:01PM 7th Nov PST

Please be advised that we will be using a different IRC server this time.
The server is irc.austnet.org (port 6667) (Or any of the servers listed on http://blog.austnet.org/servers/ )
and the chat room is #sillydog701

You will need an IRC (chatroom) client to join our chat.

Everybody is welcome to join.

Hope to see you all.

Anyone want to have another online chat?

Before we finalise, please show your interest, and recommend a date (in November or in December)?)

I'm interested. I only hope that my internet keeps on the whole time.

Not sure about a suggested date, have to look at days I have off.

We had a year-end chat around last Christmas, I believe. Why not around then?

Since we're coming up on late October we really should sort out a date. We have November 7th, 14th, 21st or 28th as available options.

I've suggested the 7th November as the date, but I'm free for any of the above dates.

Now that we have indeed ran the poll for a good length of time over 60% of the votes favour the 7th of November.

I'd like to suggest the same idea regarding time that we've used in the last few chats. That is, to have two online chats on the same dates, but at different times. The times that were previously used were both 15 00 GMT on the 7th November and 00 00 GMT on the 8th November.

These times translate to:

23 00 November 7th and 08 00 November 8th in Perth (WST)

02 00 November 8th and 11 00 November 8th in Sydney (AEDST)

15 00 November 8th and 00 00 November 8th in the United Kingdom (GMT)

etc. etc.

Thanks Mandrake.

Let's keep it tradition, making the chats 1 minute pass the hour.

Everybody is welcome to join.

Hope to see you all.

Sounds good. I'll do my best to be there Saturday, the time happens to be while I'm at work. But, I should still be able to chat.

Am I correct in saying that the chats are indeed on two different days? Last time I got confused.
