27 Oct, 2009 8:30 am SeaMonkey 2 ... released at last! [sdp=98393]

After many, many months in development, going through nightly builds, alphas and betas, nearly three years
after the last major release version (v1.1) The SeaMonkey Council have finalised and released SeaMonkey 2.

The newest version of the suite is now back up to par with the version of Gecko used in Mozilla Firefox,
and once add-on developers know the score, it can fully support add-ons originally made for Firefox.

For the full lowdown on SeaMonkey 2, and to download it for Windows, Mac and Linux visit the website:

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5pre) Gecko/20091024 SeaMonkey/2.0 Firefox/3.5.x

SeaMonkey = Swiss Army Knife: It's versatile, reliable, and contains useful tools.
Windows Internet Explorer = Old Swiss Cheese: Full of holes, and it stinks!

It seems that the RC2 release from last week is the same as the final release.

Seamonkey2.0 is installed in a different directory as SM1.1.x, and I have a separate profile. I have been doing nightlies, as far back as the Middle Ages, when the SM2.0 project began.
There should have been no glitch, but there was one. Since my SM1.1.8 shortcut icon was called SeaMonkey, 2.0 took it over. So, I had to rename the shortcut to SeaMonkey2.0 and go to the 1.1.8 directory, and send the shortcut, which had to be edited with its profile name.
I will tend to 2.0 addons and Themes, as they come out, but I am not losing any sleep over this.

SM 2.0 is fabuloso. Now, all we need are Colorful Tabs. We no longer even need tabx.xpi.

There will not be Roboform for 2.0 for the foreseeable future. But the Remember Password bookmarklet from Squarefree.com still works. That is good because the wallet.crypto thing has been removed from about:config.
