When my computer is booting up there is a screen headed "Verifying DMI Pool Data........".
About half way down this screen is the following comment:
"Supported Video Card not detected - Installation aborted".
This happened after I replaced my original video card (S3 Trio 3D/2X) with a new video card (GeForce4 MX440 with AGP 8X).
My computer appeared to be running perfectly OK but the "error" message concerned me.
My AGP slot is 2X and I thought this may have been the problem so I thought I'd try a PCI Type video card (PowerColor Radeon R9000 RV25P-B3). However, the "error" message was still in the DMI Pool Data as previously.

I'd really appreciate some advice on how to rectify this apparent error. Thanks heaps in advance.

If I understand you, the error message appears while the bios are loading, that is, before W98 starts to load. Bios error messages can be cleared by going into the bios setup. Enable the clearing of the log and reboot. The message should be gone. If you are describing an error message that pops up during the loading of W98, try updating the driver. If that doesn't work, go in to your device manager and delete the card and reboot. Windows will detect the card and reinstall it. Be sure the drivers are compatible with W98.
