Come to think of that, it's a really good idea. That'd work great on my 98SE/ME machines. Now all I have to do is make a new build based on that, possibly create it from the Streamlines, replace the GRE installers, and we could have a resource-leak free version of Netscape 7.1..
Although, there's really no point now... Netscape 7.2 is only a week or two away.

It may, but SP2 RC2 seems to be working fine for me. Sure, it deleted my defaults in favor of IE, but it was easy enough to change them back.

I did not know that SP2 was available. I know that it will cause a number of problems. I have seen daily articles about it.

WinXP SP2 hasn't officially been released yet. it is currently available in Release Candidate form. You can download it from http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/sp2preview.mspx in a 100MB form with WindowsUpdate, or in 250MB form for a non-Windows Update version.

Well... I for one have no intention of downloading this for at least a month following its official release. I want to see what others have to say and I'm also in no hurry to jeopardize my computer just because Gates and company decide the try and plug their Swiss cheese software months and months after the fact. No hurry here. Sheesh. My wife has never updated to SP 1 and during the past year and a half has not experienced any problems whatsoever.. a far cry from the many who plague their newsgroups daily complaining of this not working and that freezing up.

It may not be secure, but there isn't much that can get in while running behind two software firewalls (MS ICF and ZA Pro) and a hardware firewall installed in a wireless router? I might be a bit paranoid, but it seems to be working.

Hey, Don
No offense meant. I'm also a bit paranoid and I "did" install SP 1. I am going to wait, however, since I don't really see the need (for me at least) to rush on this. Besides, I'm on a dial-up and I could never download such a huge program.

No offense taken. Anyway, Microsoft usually puts SPs out on CD, so you could always get that if you ever needed it.

So, you can keep the present Firewall? Anyway I got a small program called xp-AntiSpyware which allows me to disable Windows Messanger, as well as the automatic updates,
I need the protection, but I don't need all the riot acts which Microsoft publishes any time I do anything. With SP2,, it will get worse.
I hope that there are options, though I doubt it.

No, you can't keep ICF... There is the new Windows Firewall (which I just happened to refer to as ICF) that is a bit better in terms of control. Why do I use it as well as ZA Pro? So Windows will stop nagging me about how it can't detect ZA. It makes me wonder, if it can't detect it then how can it tell me that? Automatic updates can be turned off, but then Windows yells at you about that as well. As for Windows Messenger, you can go to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Set Program and Access Defaults and un-check "Enable Access to This Program" for Windows Messenger.
