But it's not very smooth, switching from one computer to another, or from one OS to another. Anyway, that's the real reason I won't switch primarily to a non Microsoft OS (Mac OS, Linux, OS/2). I wish there'd be one computer and one OS to rule them all. It could be an Apple creation for all I care. I want to run all my software on one OS (preferably one with a strong command line interface) without having to reboot. I'd pay top dollar for that right there.

To be honest, I'd wish just the opposite. Lots of choices of manufacturers, form factors, and operating systems too.
What I do wish was unified is the paradigm by which they would all interoperate - such that people running a Windows PC, a Mac, a Solaris workstation, a BSD server; and the Linux geek in the basement, the Mac user, the retro guy with a DEC AlphaStation, and the IBM "True Blue" AIX-running guy in the suit can all share data and run the same sorts of apps.
But of course, now I'm getting off-topic.

Or at least compile your games for Linux/other *NIX likes, and USE OpenGL.

The price of that is costly as well plus it still as a floppy spot so you know no good for tunes or camera cards and the like .Now the one that cost 599 has no floppy but has the camera card slots .
