14 Dec, 2003 8:35 am netscape 7.1 - Verizon - multiple sub-accounts |

I just upgraded frm NS 4.7 to 7.1. Use Verizon.net. Apparently NS 7.1 doesn't support "multiple users" - at least not with Verizon that requires 'Authentication'.
Today - for the 100,000th time - when I called Verizon, they said there was a NS 7.2 that IS supported by Verizon.
I can't find a 7.2 on the netscape web site, only 7.1.
can anyone help. thanks
Nancy

Nancy,
there is and probably never will be a NS7.2. Decimal points do not mean much to some people.
So, why would 7.02 be better than 7.1, I don't understand, but I have removed my old 7.02.
I don't see why you could not authenticate with any of the post 4.x programs. You may want to look at the ATT link which shows their way.
You should compare the ATT setup with your present 4.77 set up. If you have to enter a password, you will be authenticated.
So, if Verizon supports some Netscape 7, ask them to provide pictures.

You should be able to create additional profiles in Netscape 7 if you have multiple users. Each profile is allowed their own e-mail settings. Off the Start menu, Programs/Netscape 7, there should be a Profile Manager selection, that is where you can add extra profiles to Netscape.
Once you launch the Verizon software (if this is the authentication you are referring to) in order to login, you should be able to use ANY web browser you wish, Netscape, Opera, and IE. All of them should work fine with the service, but it's Verizon's decision as to which browsers they will officially support.

Edward, it is my understanding that she means multiple Verizon accounts, i.e. different usernames in a single Netscape profile. But, who knows?

Referring to my post Netscape 7.1 and Verizon passwords. Verizon is very frustrating as it cannot provide technical support. In reference to my problem with newsgroups, their online support only includes up to 4.7. I guess they only train on IE.
Since my problem involved authentication, refer to the link I was given. I followed those instructions and now newsgroups work without repeated sign ins.
