I have a pair of D-Link wireless PCI cards that worked for a few weeks, and then became flaky for a few days and finally ceased working altogether. Support at D-Link suggested that I download & upgrade to the newest D-Link software for the card. Certainly makes sense to me, but here’s my problem: Uninstalling using the Add/Remove Program in the Control Panel of windows 98SE doesn’t really make the program go away. After an apparent uninstall, the “Air Plus …” software is still listed under “Programs and, more importantly, (because of this I presume) the newly downloaded D-Link software doesn’t load . It must see it there since asks if I want to completely remove the existing version. I respond yes, of course, and it does something for a second or two, flashes a 100% for just an instant, and stops. But alas, nothing new is loaded.

So it appears to me that I can’t get the new software to load because the OS can’t get rid of the previous version. What can I do?
