I've been using Mozilla successfully since v1.0, and have been on Moz 1.7.2 since its release.
Tonight when I load up, and go to email, I get the message
"sending of password did not succeed. Mail server responded 'maildir : permission denied'."
I have not altered any of my passwords (or any other settings) since last successfully loading Mozilla. Having checked, I confirm that Password Manager (under Mozilla Edit - Preferences - Privacy&Security - Passwords) still shows the correct passwords.
I'm running Moz 1.7.2 and Windows XP Pro (no SP2) with Norton AV 93 and Kerio Personal Firewall, connecting via 1Mb broadband. I use POP email. This combination has never caused a problem in the past - all components have been in place for months.
I have just confirmed that I can still *send* email - but I can't access any 'new' mail sent (other than that already received and so in my folder).
Anyone any bright ideas??
Mike of Sheffield.

I don't know if they are bright idea, but it nothing has benn changed, and it would work ok, I would disable Norton.
Are you aware of the profile location?
Then delete the Inbox.msf file of your mail acccount, with Mozilla open.
No matter what this may be the golden opportunity to get Mozilla1.7.5. You should uninstall the older version. You can use the same profile, but I would recommend creating a new profile .
I would start minimally, setting up the account, and just testing incoming mail.

My ISP has now posted details of a widespread fault on their email servers which I suspect is the origin of my problem.
Thanks for your help though!

Mike,
how is it working at the webmail site? Anyway, I hope that they fix the problem.

Issue at the ISP is now sorted and all email (AFAIK) has been delivered.
Thanks for everyone's helpful comments. I intend to try Moz 1.7.5 soon.
