I can tell that its quick and renders sites fine, even the IE trident works well with special "IE only" sites but I am very dissapointed with the fact that IE engine is the default for trusted sites even for netscape.com.
Why? Please limit IE trident to needed minimum it is a security risk, I even caught a spyware with NN8 (1800searchAssistant.com) before noticing that I am viewing the sites with IE engine. You will never have a complete list of malicious sites and also sometimes a domain name changes the owner -are you sure you would be able to change the list so quick?
And also please make something with the skin, it is too light andthe orange parts are awfull (what a silly idea to combine these colours together) and it it really looks to plastic to use it my office. The default skin should be something some more elegant.

It was mentioned wildly during the beta periods in a number of computer magazines, mainly praising the space saving of combining "reload and stop".

Very funny!: I check my Netscape mail account with pre-beta and it changes to IE egine, showing the green shield with the check mark as a 'trusted' site. But they prefer to render this Netscape site with IE engine intead with gekko (Netscape) engine itself.  . In fact, the site works a bit faster this way

Therefore, unless the nptrident.dll is deleted from the NS8 Plugins folder, the fact that spyware
can be picked up so casually, makes NS8 just as big a security risk as Internet Explorer itself.
In which case, until Netscape do the wise thing and totally remove all IE support from NS8,
as soon as possible, the new browser should be avoided at all costs. Users of Gecko based
browsers should stick with the Mozilla Application Suite or Mozilla Firefox.

or, they should simply delete nptrident.dll.

No, this was not something I meant, I actually really enjoy the double engine as there are some special sites (actually databases) that I am using and which are running only with IE so therefore I had to have 2 browsers open at once which is insane. Now I can use only one. But I would love to have the extension how IE trident is used on the same stage as in prototype 2, especially I miss the icon informing me which engine is being used at the moment to render the site directly in the tab. Otherwise I am not willing to take Netscape 8 as I dont take such security risk (deleting the trident dll is still a possibility though).

The default seems to be set for Apple or AAPL...would like to add my own but not having any luck, when I set the symbol it takes me to the Netscape Stock site rather than placing on the ticker.

I downloaded and installed the new build, and it seems to have more sites to open with the IE engine. And, I removed the old profile, considering the problems I had before.. The bookmarks, in the bookmarks toolbar are still not visible unless one goes through the Maximize/Restore exercise.
I have almost seen enough of it.

True, but that was back when we all had 640x480 screens, with today's norm of 1024x768 we really don't need such space-saving anymore. If they wanted to do space saving they could move around some of the other icons.

One of the rules of beta testing is to never expect anything on a pre-specified date. You may have heard that there were problems. And, even the the new build which just came out is far from being fixed.
And, by the way, NS8 beta2 crashed twice in a row, before I even loaded my Tabs. Other people reported the problem, with different suggested solutions, but I never saw anything like this with anything but NS8 of some description.
If they have any brains, they won't release it to the public.
