You heard it here first. Apparently it's quite different to the beta, because several features which weren't ready then are now.

Not sure if it is true though.

The win32 subdirectory at Netscape's FTP server is quite empty, and NSB-Install-BETA.exe there is dated as 9th March, 2005:

http://ftp.netscape.com/pub/netscape8/english/8.0/windows/win32/

But it's time to bookmark it and this is a very good news.

Now I founded a new subdirectory named as /partners at http://ftp.netscape.com/pub/netscape/ .

Interesting. There was no access to this directory.

I'll take that as a yes.

I'll do that.

For those actually interested in using Netscape 8, do take a look at this article by Blake Ross.

These aren't the droids you're looking for.

I can't complain about my knowledge on the English language, but this comment I don't understand. Could you explain this for me or do I sound really stupid now.

May 19 is the opening day of "Star Wars Revenge of the Sith" in US. Smile

The most important thing to me is nscpprod's user agent.
Code:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20050512 Netscape/8.0

especially Gecko/20050512. It seems final is based on Firefox 1.0.4.

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; ja-JP; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4

It is spelled J-O-J-I, but pronounced GEORGE.

Does it really matter?
The article is very long (pedantic). The first thing I checked was the Boston Globe link, and it does not exist.
Anyway, I would not get worked up over NS8, droid or not.

It seems like they have stopped access to the Netscape 8 Beta on the official Netscape homepage, when trying to download a message saying that the Netscape 8 Browser is coming soon appears.
Must be something going on, maybe we will see a release tomorrow??

actually, from the looks of it, final will be on ff 1.0, because it says rv:1.7.5. The Gecko/XXX is the compilation date.

NS8 had some neat ideas but the two browser engines could be a pain because you need seperate addons for each one. So, using Firefox addons, such as adblock, would only work on sites using the Gecko engine.
