14 May, 2005 3:13 pm Web page doesn't fully load! |

For several weeks now I've had trouble with a few web pages that don't fully load. For awhile, I would empty my cache and that took care of the problem. However, this past week, that didn't solve the problem, so I also tried deleting the Cache folder, deleting the xul.mfl file, the history.dat file - all with Mozilla 1.7.5 closed. None of those things helped. So, I just completed a clean install of Firefox and Thunderbird. First I backed up my slt. folder, plugins, bookmarks, address book, and mail messages on the hard drive, on the desk top and on a CD. Then I uninstalled Mozilla 1.7.5 and deleted all Mozilla files that the uninstall left behind. I shut down, restarted, and downloaded and installed Firefox and Thunderbird. Everything went quite well with the installation - no problems. However, one of the web pages that didn't completely download before still does not download. If I go to that page with IE it downloads completely. Any suggestions? Thanks so much! JJ

You have done all sort of stuff, and it tells me nothing. How about one link at least? I don't believe that checking against IE is a good test, because web page a checked against IE first, and they better work.
So, the very least would be to check one or more pages in my system.
Would it do any good, with high scable and Win XP. I don't know, but stop taking shots in the dark. Give us some info. I will check it, as long as it is not oscene, or gambling is involved just kidding).

This is the web address this doesn't fully load for me. http://www2.caringbridge.org/il/jeaniekane/
Lacking in Firefox is the red background, the mother's journal entry, the St. Louis Cardinal icons, etc. The picture of the boy, Nolan, does load. In the past I have also had trouble getting Yahoo Mail to fully load, although it is presently loading correctly.
Sorry if my post wasn't clear. I tried to give specific details of what I had done. The things I tried were taken from postings from this web site.
Thank you for your time!
JJ

No problem. The picture loaded instantly, and the rest took a few extra seconds. At the very bottom, the number of pages viewd is in the middle of everything else. A common error in page construction.
As a public service I did a HTML page validation , and as you can see 135 errors were found.
The moral of the story is that pages written without concern for code will not display well in gecko browsers.
I checked this in Mozilla1.7.8, Netscape7.2 and Firefox1.0.4, and they behaved the same way.
In spite of the problems, it is a well designed page, but it gave me background and everything else in few seconds.

Mystery solved, problem fixed. Under Tools, Options, Web Features, Load Images is checked, but I unchecked "for the originating web site only" and the web page now loads perfectly ok! Yeah! Thanks again for all of your help! I really value and appreciate it!

This is good to you find, but the website needs a lot of correction to be fully compatible with non-Microsfoft browsers.
