The useragent string identifies that Netscape 8.0.2 is a build based on Gecko/20050603.

I noticed one problem during installation...

Where is the option for "Do not check for browser update" (or similar)?

Antony,

There is no option in Netscape 8.0.2, neither in the install, or in the Advanced options...

If you choose "Notify when Updates are Available," it will only tell you if there is an update available. You can then choose if you do want or don't want to install that update.

I'm curious about the desktop weather option which comes checked by default. Has anyone actually activated this? Does it demaind much by way of system resources? Does it send home any information regarding your browsing? I see that there is a weather update on the personal toolbar so what is the point of this systray option (other than giving you a weather update even when you're not in your browser? It just seems like an overkill. If one does NOT go for this option, can he activate it "after the fact" so to speak? Thanks.

ZDNet has a very new article too:

Titled "Netscape sends out another patch" at http://news.zdnet.com/2102-1009_22-5751867.html?tag=printthis .

They are handling mainly the XML issue, but a link to NS8.0.2 Release Notes is included as well.

According to IEBlog (Internet Explorer Blogsite) . . .

Dave Massey at IEBlog wrote:

Netscape 8 update for XML rendering

We posted recently an issue affecting XML rendering in IE after an installation of Netscape 8. Netscape has just
released an updated version that addresses this issue and is available at http://browser.netscape.com/ns8/

Thanks to Netscape for making this update available so that this will no longer be an issue.

I'm impressed that Netscape/AOL seem to be maintaining Netscape 8 properly this time around (Unlike ver. 7).

new netscape 8.02 does not install on a pentium 2 233 mhz with 128mb ram on the full install. Does not meet the necessary requirements.
that the full install, same as 8.01

Beginning to wonder about this new netscape browser,
Reminds me of aol which i tried for 2 days on a 3 month free trial.
did not like it. cancelled after 3 days. then had to reformat my entire entire hard drive to get all the junk out.

The requirements state that a 233mhz with 64mb of ram and Windows 98 SE or higher are required. Netscape reccomends a 1GHz processor with 256mb of ram and Windows XP, according to the readme.
