Apple introduces Mighty Mouse
Apple Computer announced a new generation of computer mice that lets users scroll in any direction and program up to four seperate programmable buttons. A device for "natural, fluid movements" letting users scroll vertically, horizontally and diagonally.

We've simply built a better mouse,” said David Moody, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Mac Product Marketing, in a prepared statement. “Mighty Mouse adds functionality while retaining the elegant, easy-to-use Apple design.

And you are able to do the "right-click" as well.

System requirements: USB 1.1 port, Mac OS X and later or Windows 2000 or XP. (for button programming, Mac OS X 10.4.2 or later is required)

Yes, but I'm sure there is somebody on this forum that can translate US dollars to Austrailia dollars.

I know, and the Apple Store AU does not have the Mighty Mouse yet (at time of speaking).

A widget in OS X Tiger would do the currency conversion, but I won't get it from the States.

According to the current rates on the XE.com Universal Currency Converter . . . US$49.00 = AU$64.07

Anyway, it's about time Apple started to offer a mouse with more than just one button! Why it's taken them so
long to produce a proper mouse on which you can context click with one hand rather than two, I don't know!

high quality assurance internal testing?
And the elegant design with high technology underneath it takes time.

OR perhaps the license of obtaining a new technology.

The highlight of this mouse is not the multi-button, but the multi-angle scrolling (which is not really new).

Got my Mighty Mouse!

The same shop said they had it today, and I picked mine up. I don't know where "mid-August" was from.

I will post photo shortly

That mouse looks awesome. I dont think it would go with my computer though, the case is jet black and blue and the monitor is silver. As for me I will pass. I hope they re name it something better than mighty mouse, it reminds me of a 50's cartoon with mickey mouse "i'll save you".

Well, guess what?

Antony is not used to multi-button mouse. So he adjusted the preference to single button usage:

Horizontal scrolling is really useful, Antony also hates horizontal scrolling. (Antony does not open any browser windows in full screen size, usually around 800 pixel wide.)

See also using Apple's single-button mouse.

What's the point of getting a mouse with more than one button, if you're only going to use it in
single button mode? That's like buying a keyboard, and only using it for the consonant keys!

You might as well have stuck with the single button Pro Mouse.

Single button mice are so pre-1983!
