30 Dec, 2005 10:57 am Firefox1.6a1 nightly problem [sdp=68095]

I had FF1.6a1 working beautifully for a few weeks, doing the incremental updates, as desired. I, then started cutting down on my browsers, and removed the unzipped file, from which I worked, as well as removing the special profile (without removing the files). Yesterday, in reply to questions asked by someone about memory usage, which is unusually high in Firefox1.5, I downloaded 1.6a1, and resurrected the profile. Everything worked as expected, with 1.6a1 using about half the memory than 1.5, with more extentions and tabs. However, it should a glitch, which I never saw before. I am not interested in chasing around for bugs report, which I found to be very user unfriendly. So, I am asking a question to any 1.6a1 user.
Has it ever happened that there was a lockup going anywhere inside a website? Like trying to post at this forum. After the selection the hour glass comes up, and there is no relief other than Cntrl+Alt+Del, and the Application Task Manager shows two identical lines. Closing one of them close the browser. This is the first time that I saw this behavior.
Now, I have only one line, and I am using 36MB memory, with four tabs, and four extentions. Firefox1.5 averaged 60 MB memory usage with no extra tabb, and two extentions, with extensive memory drain.
Note also that while the incremental updates worked flawlessly, in the past, the incremental update did not work today (a complete update did work). I may try to delete the previous file, and download a nightly, separately, just to see if there was any debris in yesterday nightly
The above mentioned lockup occurred twice yesterday, and once today, after the update..

30 Dec, 2005 10:01 pm followup [sdp=68107]

I downloaded a new nightly (today's), and I had another episode of lock up (double entry to boot).
I tried again, nevertheless. And, I got a crash when I tried to enter a new bookmark. The only warning was the Talback dialog coming up.
When I decided to delete the unzipped folder, deletion was denied because it said that my profile was still open. I sure don't see anything, so bye-bye 1.6a1.
