Postby DJGM » Thu 09 Nov, 2006 12:20 am

Ten weeks since SeaMonkey 1.1 Alpha was released, The SeaMonkey Council have now unveiled SeaMonkey 1.1 Beta

Release Notes ... What's New ... Download

I'm off now to install both this new beta release, and the 1.0.6 update release.

SeaMonkey = Swiss Army Knife: It's versatile, reliable, and contains useful tools.
Windows Internet Explorer = Old Swiss Cheese: Full of holes, and it stinks!

If you have access to an NNTP (newsgroup) server, I'm curious to know how long it takes to download/refresh the newsgroup listing with 1.1b.

I started with 1.0.5, then 1.1a, then 1.1b. 1.0.5 worked perfectly.

With 1.1a, it took a longer amount of time to refresh the listing. Then with 1.1b, it got worse, the same refresh that took around 2 minutes with 1.0.5, took almost 15 minutes with 1.1b, all of these were the Windows releases on a 6 Mb broadband connection.

The same releases for Linux did not have this problem.
