SeaMonkey 2.0.8 Released

Postby Edward » Thu 16 Sep, 2010 7:50 pm

The SeaMonkey Council has released SeaMonkey 2.0.8 for Linux, Windows and MacOS.

The News page is here and the 2.0.8 Release Notes are here. 2.0.8 fixes a crash at startup that some users observed after updates to their previous releases.

SeaMonkey 2.0.8 can be downloaded from their web site.

I have, never, had a problem with SM2.x, but this installation froze twice. One, after the incremental update, and the second one while installing the update. I had to kill the process, and then, open SM manually.

My Linux laptop updated 2.07 to 2.08 automatically, which I do not approve of, so I deleted the installation and downloaded the entire 2.0.8 installation file. I never experienced the crashes that were described.

I don't like to have any program update automatically. And, I can't find where this is controlled in Seamonkey, unlike Firefox. I have set up my Preferences to check for updates once a week, and, typically, I know of an update within a couple of days, so I do the same as for Firefox or Thunderbird, i.e. Help|Check for Updates.
As for the aches when updates, there has been no further problem.
