Seeking Site Counter-Tracker Recommendation

Postby FrankoSport » Tue 22 Jul, 2008 5:11 pm

Greetings ...

Up until today (July 22, 2008), visits to my web-site were tracked with STATCOUNTER. And then my account came up for renewal payment, but Statcounter's payment vendor - WorldPay - would not accept my credit card info (had changed cards since last payment).

OUCH! So, bye-bye Statcounter-WorldPay!

I'm now actively seeking a new site counter service. Have browsed around, and it seems that I may have found one with SiteMeter. The pricing is nice - a minimum of $60 a year, far less than what I was coughing up for StatCounter - and it seems that SiteMeter will do a few more things for me that StatCounter could not.

So, before I make a commitment, I need to know if anyone here uses SiteMeter and what their experience with it has been like. Also - and very, very important - are payments for paid plans made directly to SiteMeter, or does SiteMeter refer you to a payment vendor (hopefully NOT WorldPay).

Also, if you think there's a service comparable to SiteMeter that I might also consider, you may mention such here. Let me know if payments for such services go through the service itself or through a payment vendor.

Thanx-A-Lot and Happy Browsing,
Frank-0-Sport

I know that former SD701 member Andrew T. uses eXTReMe Tracking on his website. He's shown me readouts from his counter and they seem fairly in-depth, though I can't say how well they stack up to a paid counter (eXTReMe is free).

Greetings ....

Finally elected to go with Site-Meter. Got the miniumum paid version because I have many visitors at certain times of the year and want to account for them all.

BTW - Tried Google Analytics, but it proved to be a nightmare of nonsense that I could not decipher.
