silly question, PCI Express

Postby Antony » Sun 27 Mar, 2011 5:55 am

Hello all,

I am getting some PCI Express cards for the Mac Pro, Apple says:
Apple wrote:PCI Express expansion
Three open full-length PCI Express expansion slots
  • One PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot
  • Two PCI Express 2.0 x4 slots
All slots provide mechanical support for 16-lane cards
300W combined maximum for all PCI Express slots

My question is, is PCI Express same as PCI-E or PCIe? Or they are different?

And, can I put PCI or PCI-X cards on those slots?

Thanks.

They're all the same.
