It's worth noting that typing irc://irc.dixiesys.net/sillydog701 in the address field of a browser on a computer that has Mirc installed the following dialouge box appears:

I'm not sure when they added this handy feature, but it appears for me in Mirc 6.16 :)

If your version of Mozilla / Netscape (7.1 has it by default) has Chatzilla, it will open this by default :). All you need to do is enter a nickname and away you go :) - or, if you dont have Chatzilla, and want it - visit www.mozilla.org/projects/rt-messaging (or www.hacksrus.com/~ginda/chatzilla to get straight to the chatzilla pages)

Demon,
NS 7.1 has it selected in install by default, but it can be removed.
I've had Chatzilla installed with corresponding Netscape releases since 6.0b3. You can download them at Mozilla's FTP server, under the corresponding Mozilla release's XPI folder for your OS.

I said that because most people would probably disable the "Developer Pack" item, since they probably wouldn't need it.

I just tried the chat link above, and Chatzilla was able to connect with no problems, so something must have changed sometime. Either Chatzilla on Mozilla 1.7.x is better, or the IRC server has solved a problem. If I make it to the chat tomorrow, I hopefully will be using Chatzilla.

I've always had Chatzilla installed with Mozilla, but, until now, it never worked with the SillyDog chats. The IRC server would keep disconnecting me with some error message. I used to connect with an old copy of PIRCH, but the Windows 98 system with that on it has recently gone "belly-up."

Seems to work fine here... I'm not having any problems, although I did have a similar problem with the M18 version I was using with Netscape 6.0.

In Mozilla Firefox: inputting the url above resulted in

irc is not a registered protocol

However, it worked fine in Mozilla 1.7.2.
