SillyDog701 hacked, but safe.

Postby Antony » Mon 26 May, 2003 2:08 am

Sadly, one of the SillyDog701 server has been hacked this afternoon 1:21PM 26 May 2003 (AEST), luckily, sillydog.com was hacked not sillydog.org.

None of the data stored in sillydog.org appeared to be hacked.

Earlier, I did ask you to use sillydog.org, and sillydog.com is now used as a testbed of new SillyDog701. There's no critical contents stored in .com server. No forum data, SQL database at all.

That's not very nice. It had better not be another one of those pesky Firebird SQL people. :?

Man, don't get me started on those Firebird SQL people! Ah, well, lucky it was only the .com server and not the sillydog.org :-)

Sillydog.com was hacked along a huge list that was defaced by a group called "B l o o d B R" (no space). No sure if they stole anything from sillydog.com, however, there's nothing for them to steal.

The attack appears to be a random but targetted web hosting company attack.

What I've seen:
1. The backup system in web hosting company worked and worked well.
2. The web hosting company communicate to its clients truthfully.
3. Security upgraded with hardward and servers updated and a new security audit will be implemented.
