Postby beanboy89 » Wed 06 Jul, 2005 10:49 am

Antony and I have discussed possible dates for a SillyDog701 online chat in the months of July and August. There are three possible dates for the chat: July 23rd/24th, July 30th/31st, or August 6th/7th.

More details will be posted at a later time regarding this online chat session.

Please vote for a date that best fits your schedule.

You expect people from the United Kingdom to come to a chat at 2am in the morning?

Either of the usual times, Midnight GMT or 3pm GMT would be suitable, IMO.

Since it's BST (GMT+1) here at the moment, it'd actually be 03:00 in the morning!

(Sez he at 04:37 in the morning!)

What's wrong with the timeslot we've always used?

Antony asked for people to suggest a timeslot, so I did.

That time is OK by me. I will try to show up.

I even have my old stand-by computer, which has PIRCH (IRC client), up and running again, albeit on a slower 400 MHz CPU. The faster CPU had died.

Sorry to hear your computer problem.
As usual, I would recommend you getting a Mac, a Mac mini is a great one to get started. (Your current monitor and USB based keyboard and mouse will work for Mac mini.)

Can we assume from the results of the poll that the online chat will be on July 23rd/24th, at the usual time of Midnight GMT? (I've got some plans to make, and would like to schedule them around the time of the online chat, if possible)

I'll try to show up (no promises, though).

Antony: I still have my 2.8 GHz Windows XP machine with all programs functioning. It was only my 550 MHz Windows 98SE machine that had its CPU croak, and I had to replace the 550 MHz CPU with a spare 400 MHz CPU that I had laying around. (I also have a 266 and a 350 MHz machine, both of which run Windows 98SE.)

I use Chatzilla on my Windows XP machine, while I use PIRCH on some of my Windows 98 machines.

I will be there as well. I expect to have better luck with this chat than I did at our last one, when I couldn't log into either of the servers we were using!

for those who missed the chat, couldn't be there, or left early, i managed to log the last topic (the ethics of copying music). Unfortunately, X-Chat's buffer size didn't allow more.

Interested folks can find it here. Enjoy! :)
