The actual version of Netscape 6, obviously by checking the Netscape 6 in the UserAgent string.
And before you ask... why not checking for Netscape 7? You have to blame the software. I can't configure that.

Just a thought ~ and if you take my posts and figure out the percentage, you should really count it as Netscape, as I am using IE 6.0 only because I haven't had time to remove the junk in my computer. Y'all know I like netscape/Firebird/Mozilla

An interesting set of statistics. It's a little depressing that the proportion of Internet Explorer traffic in December 2003 was so high (a sizable difference, anyway, from the traffic of December 2002), but I assume the percentage would be at a more reasonable level if Opera users and Lorraine's visits were deducted. Still, IE users couldn't have chosen a better site to visit: Sillydog.org is the ideal place for these users to come to and be encouraged to switch to Netscape or Mozilla!

As for the record high of 67 hits from Mosaic users, I'll bet that I was partially responsible. (Screen shot)

As I've said before, IE users are welcome here, so they can learn the error of their ways!

Do the site statistics reflect a total of visits to all pages within the sillydog.org domain, including forum traffic?

I made a graph of SillyDog701 traffic by web browser since September 2002. (14k)

Yes, all HTTP connections, including all subdomains and directories of SillyDog701.

Thanks for the nice graph.

Just to remind you that some of us here actively discourage the use of Internet Exploiter,
whilst encouraging IE users to switch to real browsers like Mozilla, Netscape or Opera . . .

Kindly refrain from encouraging the use of Microsoft's pathetic excuse for a web browser.

That is all.

Yes, we do encourage people to use browsers. Mozilla, Opera and Netscape are all very good browsers. These browsers are much more secure and have many more features when compared to IE.

IE isn't a browser, it's an OS Component!

Between December 2003 and January 2004, there was a drop in the percentage of Internet Explorer 6 hits.

Andrew - Excellent graph!

Antony,

If a web browser like Konqueror (for Linux) is used, how are those statistics compiled? Do these come under Netscape or something else?

Konqueror has Mozilla/5.0 in the UA string, thus, like Safari, it would included in with Mozilla and Netscape.
