To bad that Opera isn't counted as Opera around this site and others, although it is spoofed as IE. I wonder how much browser share they realy have.

I'm not sure if there are any reliable numbers out there for browser usage.

There had been BrowserWatch at one time (part of Internet.com), which has since been taken down.

internet.com sites:

There is also Browser News, which lists stats and the sources of them. The link is for their stats page.

An interesting find on the WebReference page, is that it's showing what appears to be a reference to Netscape 8 {NS 8} in their stats, but no Netscape 7.

Well, as far as I can tell - the order of browser popularity would be as follows:

1)MSIE
2)Netscape
3)Mozilla
4)Opera
5)Other browsers

(Mozilla is referring to Mozilla Firebird, and the Mozilla browser component from the old 'swiss army knife' approach of things)
UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 Netscape/7.1 (ax)

It's great to see the numbers start to flip towards Netscape/Mozilla for a change.

Although the % for Opera dropped, the number of hits with Opera increased, which is also good to see.

Safari usually gets counted in the Netscape 5.x section.

It is not what it should be counted, it is the issue of the software I use. I haven't got time to verify this or get a new software.

My stats software includes Safari in the "Netscape 5" section -- I've checked the UserAgents. It's most likely because it contains "Gecko" in it's user agent string.

The stat software in my Ensim control panel also shows Safari under Netscape 5, pretty misleading. The stats of browsers here are one of a kind, at my small site - MSIE gets about 95% of the hits, with Netscape and Mozilla taking about 4%, leaving a percent for Opera and others.

Netscape/Mozilla 43.77%, MSIE 52.46%
MSIE 6 and 5 have decreased from previous month.
A very healthy result.

And the Operating Systems...

Win 98 20.04%
Win 2000 18.15%
:mac:Macintosh 7.92%
Othe 4.88%

Win Me 3.37%
Win 95 2.23%
SunOS 0.22%
Win 3.1 0.06%
OS/2 0.03%
HP-UX, IRIX, WebTV, WinCE all 0.01% each
OSF1 15 hits (0.00%)

Well, what a disappointing result, less than 8% of visitors can enjoy the specially enhanced layout for Mac platforms
I have no idea where they put Windows XP, but most likely it is classified under WinNT. And don't bother to tell me where it should be classified, you have to ask the Software.

During this month, we transferred to a new hosting company, we also have new template for SillyDog701 and this Message Centre. The new template uses less individual graphes, this will help people to speed up page loading. Despite a decrease in total number of hits, we have a huge increrase of page views. We have more people viewing SillyDog701 with less sever loads!

An increase showing for Opera too!!! :D

I can't recall if I asked this before, but what is that reference to Netscape 6.x in the listing??? Was there a Mozilla/6.0 that was never released, or is that the actual version 6 of Netscape?
