Slow Launch

Why does Mozilla 1.6 take so long to open up even when i have it running in the "quick Launch" mode. I click to open Navigator and it takes a while for it to open up. I do not have Java running .

Who knows? Compared to what? What system do you have? What do you mean by "it take a while"?
I don't use Quick Launch, and I have a five-year old computer, and it takes about 20 seconds to fully load. with six tabs. I can do other things as the 20 sec. elapse.

See bug 76831.

No one's ever been able to figure it out. (Though a helpful patch has been checked in for Mozilla 1.7, it probably doesn't affect Quicklaunch). Personally I've always wondered whether changing the name of the executable to anything else would fix the problem. But it's a fact; I'm paranoid.

Hey fulvio, why the attitude. I'm only asking for assistance, you come across as being irritated by the question.

Happy Easter

Disable quicklaunch and try again, I'm running a 1.7b build and it loads in three seconds on a PC running at 2.2Ghz.

The only thing that works for me is to disable Norton AntiVirus just before starting Firefox .. and it actually became "faster" again ...
I have used anti-virus software in the past, and I had a lot of problems with it slowing down my computer. Now, I don't use any and everything is going fine.
