SM listening to ports???

Postby jpChris » Fri 19 Oct, 2007 1:05 pm

Hi all,

Since my problem of SeaMonkey taking over a minute to open (I still haven't fixed it yet) I noticed that in ZoneAlarm Pro when I open it that now, in the Active Programs area (at the top), it shows that "SeaMonkey is listening to port(s): TCP 1108, 1110".

?????? It's never shown that before and why is it now "listening" to those ports?

And, for additional brain damage, I've noticed that upon multiple openings and closings of SM that the "listening to port(s) . . ." changes *every time*! First it was 1108 and 1110; then it was 1259, 1261; then 1264, 1266, and so forth.

I'm stumped. Is it SeaMonkey? Is it my AV? Is it my firewall? I do not relish the thought of uninstalling all these programs and then reinstalling them.

I found a simple explanation of ZA "listening" on the ZA General Forum.

I also did a search for the ports your listed, and these are the results:

1108 - ratio-adp
1110 - Cluster status info
1259 - Open Network Library Voice
1261 - mpshrsv
1264 - PRAT
1266 - DELLPWRAPPKS

I would suggest posting your questions on the ZA General Forum, for an informed explanation.
