According to Sony's press release, the new VAIO VGN-A190, will have a screen resolution of 1920x1200 in 17-in WUXGA display.
The size of Sony VAIO VGN-A190:
16 x 11 x 1.7-1.8 inches (W x D x H) with a weight of 8.6 lbs
We compare that with Apple PowerBook G4, 17-inch model,
screen resolution: 1440 x 900
15.4 x 10.2 x 1 inches (W x D x H) with a weight of 6.9 lbs
Apple has 1900 by 1200 pixels screen resolution in their 23-inch Cinema HD Display. Sony managed to squeeze that resolution into 17-inch laptop display. One thing I am sure is the font would be extremely small in Sony's new VAIO A190 laptop, if operates in its native resolution.
